Ren Long, or “lotusshowers”, is a Cambodian-American multimedia illustrator creating original and collaborative works in children’s books and graphic novels, exploring themes of time, identity, and growth.
To him, storytelling is like alchemy – you pour love into your words, and magic spills out of the pages. Through handcrafted tales and kaleidoscope hues, Ren hopes to document the intersections between reality and imagination, drawing inspiration from his Cambodian ancestry while also reflecting on queer identity.
Lotus flowers may only bloom once they have overcome the earth. In this way, his work finds strength through joy, mending memories with magic and investigating the root of it all – love.
You can find more of his work on TikTok and Instagram @lotusshowers.

Fun fact: “lotusshowers” is a bilingual pun in both English and Khmer! In Khmer, the word ‘ផ្កាឈូក’ refers to both a ‘lotus’ and ‘shower’, while the English version replaces ‘flowers’ with the rhyme “showers”!
